Camp Kaleideum

Curiosity leads the way at Camp Kaleideum! Our themed camps inspire creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning through STEAM-based activities, interactive exhibits, and engaging play. Whether discovering the wonders of science, diving into art and storytelling, or tackling engineering challenges, campers embark on exciting adventures that spark imagination and innovation. With options for summer, school breaks, and teacher workdays, Camp Kaleideum offers fun-filled experiences that keep young minds engaged all year long!

Spring Camps

March 10 – Lego Coding

Calling all LEGO enthusiasts — it’s time to level up! Test out your coding skills using LEGO Spike kits to make your creations come to life!

March 11 – Potion Commotion

Invent and test your own concoctions! Play like a scientist with droppers, measuring spoons, flasks, and test tubes, but watch out for fizzy, slimy, sticky reactions!

March 12 – Fast and Furious

Learn all about the movement, motion and physics that propel some of your favorite modes of transportation. Have a paper airplane contest, launch rockets and race cars!

March 13 – Mini Makers

Calling all mini makers! Join us for a day of creating and building.  Get ready to use your imagination to create your own bobble head and make unique designs.

March 14 – Grossology

Get ready for a day of yuck, eww, and gross science fun! Learn about the fascinating human body and all things icky.

April 18 – Games & Adventures

Get ready to play! From egg hunts to obstacle courses your campers will be running and moving all day!

 

 

Summer 2025

Pre-K and Rising Kindergarten

Campers need to be able to use the bathroom independently and have the ability to use a public restroom without immediate assistance from an adult.

Week of May 27-30 (4 days)

Fantastic Beasts: They’re scaly, feathery, slinky, and fierce! From dragons to unicorns, discover mythical creatures while hatching dragon eggs, making unicorn caves, and performing magical experiments.

Week of June 2-6

Mess it Up!: Play like a scientist with droppers, measuring spoons, flasks, and test tubes while creating explosive works of art! Campers will finger paint, make slime, meet some slippery slimy animals, and partake in some real messy experiments. Dress to get messy!

Week of June 9-13

Expedition Earth: Take a trip around the world! Trek through rainforests, crawl through caves, explore the deep depths of the ocean, and soar through the sky. Each day will be a new adventure as we discover the amazing things Earth has to offer!

Week of June 16-20

Lego Lab: Ready, set, build! Let your imagination run wild while creating cars, conducting Lego science experiments, and completing Lego challenges. Test the basic principles of engineering as you work together to plan the ultimate brick city.

Week of June 23-27

Out of this World: Learn what it takes to become an astronaut and discover what lies beyond the Earth. Explore all the planets in our solar system, make moon sand, launch rockets, and journey through the stars in our planetarium. Blast off for some out-of-this-world fun!

Week of June 30-July 3 (4 days)

Full STEAM Ahead: Play like a scientist with droppers, measuring spoons,flasks, and test tubes while creating explosive works of art! Experiment with robots, create the strongest structure, and make your own playdough. Get ready to experiment and create!

Week of July 7-11

Animal Antics: From flopping fish to furry mammals, explore the entire animal kingdom! Create your own animal habitat, compete in animal relay races, and experience close encounters with a few of the museum’s ambassador animals.

Week of July 14-18

Fizz, Bang, Pop: Measure and mix things up with us! Experiment with color change, make raisins dance, measure ingredients, and test chemical reactions while making fizzy brews and rubbery gloop.

Week of July 21-25

Masterpiece Makers: Unleash your imagination and discover your inner Picasso! Spend the week exploring art techniques such as painting, sculpting,
and more. With a paint brush in hand and a palette of creativity, campers will flourish while producing masterpieces of their own!

Week of July 28-August 1

Ms. Frizzle & Friends: Hop on board the magic school bus and take a fantastic voyage through the world of science! Observe worlds big and small. During this crazy adventure we’ll explore the layers of the earth, dive into the ocean, get swept away in a storm, and more!

Week of August 4-8

Summer Extravaganza: End your summer
with science! Meet some of our ambassador animals up close, experiment with robotics, make slime and end the week with some messy games. Make sure you dress for mess!

Space Quest: 3-2-1 BLASTOFF! Take an amazing journey to explore our solar system, galaxy, and beyond! Train to become an astronaut, plan a trip to another planet, strap in for a rocket launch, and learn about the stars in our Planetarium.

Bricks and Bots: Calling all Lego® enthusiasts — it’s time to level up! Conduct Lego® science experiments, design cars, and build mazes using bricks of all colors, shapes, and sizes. Test out your coding skills using Lego® WeDo kits to make your creations come to life!

Week of June 2-6

Mad Science Lab: Invent and test your own concoctions! Play like a scientist with droppers, measuring spoons, flasks, and test tubes, but watch out for fizzy, slimy, sticky reactions! Put on your lab coats and get ready for some messy fun!

Art-venture: It’s hands-on and minds-on in this art adventure! Draw, sculpt, and experiment with different tools and techniques to bring your imagination to life. Create firework art, design clay creatures, and paint your way through the rainbow.

Creature Creation: What do you get when you cross a snail and a butterfly? Use your imagination and recycled materials this week to create some crazy creatures! We’ll use Lego® robotics kits to create our own creature themed robots and meet some
live ambassador animals to inspire imagination.

Week of June 9-13

Gotta Catch ’em All: Are you ready to complete your own Pokédex? Master the skills you’ll need to become a trainer and create your own fantastic creatures. Design habitats for your characters, make your own Pokéball, and go on a fun scavenger hunt to catch ’em all!

Engineer It: Put on your thinking cap to engineer solutions to amazing challenges! Learn the engineering process as you build looming spaghetti towers, experiment with robotics, and even create your own Rube Goldberg machine.

Week of June 16-20

The Great Engineering Bake Off: Join Wake Forest University Engineers as we explore science and engineering through tasty treats. Experiment with the chemistry of recipes, use engineering tools such as 3D printers to create one-of-a-kind eats, and put teamwork to the test in Bake-Off challenges. Wrap up the week by showcasing your catapult design skills for an end of camp food fight!

Minecraft Mania:  Explore the basics of coding! From cubes to creepers embark on an adventure through the world of Minecraft and bring it to life one block at a time. Complete daily challenges and design collaborative structures using Minecraft Education Edition.

Week of June 23-27

Wizard Academy: Venture with us into the world of wizards through imaginative play and science experiments. Our academy’s core subjects include potions and charms,and extracurricular studies range from fantastic beasts to Quidditch. Muggles are welcome!

Mini Amusement Park: Get ready to build and create as we use Lego® Spike kits to construct and program our own mini amusement park! Then use recyclable materials, your imagination and engineering skills to design your own unique ride.

Week of June 30-July 3 (4 days) 

STEAM’D Up!:  Bring out your creative side, it’s STEAM week! We will be encouraging dirty, messy, explosive science! Create colorful slime, learn the physics behind pendulums while creating giant works of art, and use your math skills to create optical illusions.

Week of July 7-11

Biome Bonanza: Discover the many ecosystems of our world and learn how creatures like birds and bugs have adapted to them. Become an expert as we dissect owl pellets, meet some ambassador animals up close, and design our own animal habitats!

Cardboard Challenge:
Get ready to create! Use cardboard to make moving contraptions, design your own cardboard arcade game, and create life sized structures. From castles to rocket ships, use your imagination and engineering skills to create the ultimate cardboard fort!

Week of July 14-18

Wicked Reactions: Start your week with a BANG! Learn how to create a lasting impact with elephant toothpaste, experiment with acids and bases, and grow your own crystals! Prepare to have your mind blown as you experiment with hands-on chemistry activities and demonstrations.

Coding Adventure: $35 equipment fee will be added to camp registration. Learn coding fundamentals and apply them in multiple languages — from block coding to Python. Working with multiple device and input methods, design your video game and bring it to life. You’ll leave with your very own PyBadge that you can continue to code at home!

Week of June 23-27

Lego® Coding:  Calling all Lego® enthusiasts, take your Lego® building skills to the next level! Use Lego® Spike robotics kits and your coding skills to put your creativity to work to complete a variety of challenges.

Week of July 7-11

Minecraft Coding: Explore the basics of
coding and learn the code behind Minecraft
Education Edition. Compete in code-based
challenges and use your coding skills to customize your Minecraft world while learning logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Week of July 14-18

Chemical Meltdown: Watch science in action through chemical reactions! Become a scientist and experiment with different slime recipes, create elephants’ toothpaste, freeze things in liquid nitrogen, and create some explosive reactions with a chemist.

There are limited spaces available for purchase at drop-off. You must pay cash if you purchase day-of.
Snacks and Lunch

Full-day Campers should bring two snacks, lunch, and a water bottle.

Please label your child’s personal items with their first and last name.

 

Camper Clothing

Please send your child in clothing that is comfortable for indoor and outdoor, hands-on, messy activities. Closed shoes with socks are preferred. Please, NO flip-flops.

 

 

Registration, Payments, and Cancellations
All payments are due in full upon registration. Registration is available online, with payment accepted via MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover.
Campers must be listed on the membership to qualify for the member discount.
There will be no refunds on Day Camps at Kaleideum one week prior to the start of camp.
