Get a club, church group, team, group of friends, your family or anyone interested in space travel and come to SciWorks for Plutopalooza!
SciWorks is hosting a special overnight Plutopalooza Camp-in from 6:30 pm, Tuesday, July 14 through 9 am, Wednesday, July 15. The event coincides with the New Horizons spacecraft’s historic rendezvous with Pluto.
As the fastest spacecraft ever launched, New Horizons has traveled a longer time and farther away — more than nine years and three billion miles — than any space mission in history to reach its primary target. Its flyby of Pluto and its system of at least five moons on July 14 will complete the initial reconnaissance of the classical solar system.
The SciWorks camp-in, designed for adults and students ages 8 and above, offers participants the opportunity to be among the first to see images from the close encounter as they’re beamed back to earth. Guests will also learn more about Pluto and other dwarf planets as they watch a multimedia presentation, take a scaled “solar system walk,” and create a “pocket solar system.” Students under age 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Date and Time: The fun starts at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 14, through 9 am on Wednesday, July 15.
Fee: Members $20/person; Non-members $25/person. Includes evening snack, breakfast, and all activities.
Does My Group Have to Spend the Night? The answer is “no.” You may come for the evening event from 5:30 to 10 pm and return at 7 am Wednesday morning for breakfast and images of New Horizons in the planetarium. The price is the same as above.
