SciWorks has received a generous gift from Mercedes- Benz of Winston-Salem to support the museum’s Traveling Exhibition program.

“The generosity of Mercedes-Benz and other organizations in our community allows us to bring a variety of interactive science exhibitions to SciWorks each year and offer our members and visitors new and interesting exhibits that align with the school curriculum and spark inquiry learning,” says Paul Kortenaar, Ph.D., SciWorks Executive Director. “In addition to future traveling exhibitions, the gift from Mercedes Benz will support Motion Mania, which opens in January 2016. Through exploration of this exhibition, children can discover more about force, energy, friction and stability while designing amusement park rides, race tracks and superhighways.”

As a third generation family-owned dealership, Mercedes-Benz of Winston-Salem has served the community for more than 40 years. Owner David Neill says the company supports the Traveling Exhibition program because of the impact it can have in reaching children throughout the community to spark an interest in learning, while encouraging the development of skills needed for success in the future. “Experiencing an abstract concept with a hands-on application is a key to helping students investigate and problem-solve,” he says. “There is great work going on here at SciWorks, and Mercedes-Benz of Winston-Salem is proud to support it.”
