Discover, Create, and Get VERY MESSY!
MESStival at Kaleideum
Saturday, May 17, 10 am-5 pm
Immerse yourself in goo, gunk, and grit to create art and explore science. From water play and oobleck pools to foam parties and foot painting, there will be plenty of ooey, gooey, slimy messes to dive into. Activities will be outside and inside the museum, and we’ll wind up the day with a Rockstar Bubbles Foam Party! Dress for mess and bring a towel and change of clothes.
Outside on 3rd Street (closed to traffic), you’ll find:
- A giant 30-foot Slip ‘n Slide
- Bingo Bango Soda with a Soda Volcano, Fruit Ninja Splash, and Splash Zone competitions
- Water squirter painting on shower curtains
- Messy pools filled with oobleck, shaving cream, chia seeds, “clean” mud, water sponges, and even birdseed to scoop and pour
- And don’t miss the epic Rockstar Bubbles Foam Party to close out the day!
- Human Car Wash!
In Liberty Plaza:
- Chalk painting
- Bubble fun
- Stepping stones
- Big blue building blocks
Inside the Museum:
- In La STEAM, paint a cardboard structure created by Stitch Design Shop, decorate paper lanterns and giant shapes
- Tiny artists can explore in the Baby Painting Zone, crawling through paint and creating masterpieces on butcher paper
- In the Learning Labs:
- Lab A: Mashed Potato Sculptures
- Lab B: Stay and Play Slime Lab
- Lab C: Sensory bins, clay play, and Mr. Potato Heads
- Head up to Try It! Studio and contribute to a community art project with dot-painted giant flowers that will be displayed in the museum!
