April 22 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the day in 1970 when 20 million Americans took to the street, college campuses, and hundreds of cities to protest environmental damage and demand a new way forward for our planet.

The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action, and due to COVID-19, the celebration is going digital both GLOBALLY at www.earthday.org and LOCALLY at the 2020 Virtual Piedmont Earth Day Fair.

At Kaleideum, we envision a creative, innovative learning ecosystem that equips and empowers us all to make a difference in our ever-changing world. Environmental education is very important to us and is needed now more than ever. Understanding our environmental issues is only the first step. We need to act now on these issues in order to make a difference. Now is the time to become educated and learn ways to slow down the effects we are having on our environment.

You are the key to a green future! Help the Earth with the following:
  • Decrease your carbon emissions.
  • Turn your lights off when you don’t need them.
  • Take shorter showers and find ways to use less water.
  • Recycle and reuse
  • Reduce single use plastic consumption
  • Combat air and water pollution
  • Bring nature back — plant native plants.
  • Be the difference you want to see in the world
While we all live on Earth, it is easy to lose sight of how our actions impact our environment. Celebrate Earth Day 2020 by making more sustainable choices and stay aware and educated on the issues we can control.
  • Spend time outdoors.
  • Know the environmental issues in your community.
  • Observe how the environment is changing with regards to animal migration, weather patterns, and seasonal changes.
  • Take action. Find ways you can help your local community.
Kaleideum At Home will be releasing three videos for Earth Day on our social media pages at 10 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Watch for the videos and share some of your Earth Day experiences. Tag Kaleideum in your posts and use the hashtags: #earthday2020 and #kaleideumathome!
