What better way to spend the last Saturday before school starts than meeting lots of these loveable – and intelligent – creatures!
On Saturday, August 23, from 11 am to 4 pm, you can enjoy fascinating demonstrations by amazing service dogs such as search-and-rescue bloodhounds, K-9 police dogs, herding dogs, hearing-assistance dogs and more! We’ll have a special “doggie craft” for our young visitors, and volunteers from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter are bringing some wonderful dogs that are available for adoption (though approved application) if you happen to be in the market for a new best friend!
Here’s the demonstration schedule:
- 11 am – Search-and-Rescue Bloodhounds
- 11:45 am – Hospital Therapy Dogs Tucker and Lahr will show off their skateboarding and dancing skills and much more!
- 12:45 pm: Jerry, a service dog from Canine Companions for Independence (pictured above)
- 1 pm – Ginger, the Hearing Assistance Dog
- 1:45 pm – Forsyth County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit
- 3 pm – Border Collie Sheep Herding
Dog Day of Summer events are included in the regular museum admission. As always, SciWorks Members are free!
The schedule of demonstrations is subject to change due to weather. In case of rain or extreme heat, this event will be postponed until August 30. Call (336) 767-6730 after 5 pm on Friday if Saturday’s weather looks questionable.
