This July, Kaleideum invites the community to dig into geology, music, and hands-on discovery with July Rocks!— a monthlong celebration powered by a rock-solid partnership with Vulcan Materials Company.
“Our partnership with Vulcan Materials is a model of experiential education,” said Elizabeth Dampier, Kaleideum CEO. “By taking students into the quarry and connecting classroom learning to the real world, we deepen their understanding of geology, sustainability, and how the Earth supports our communities.”
Throughout July, Vulcan Materials is sponsoring exciting programs that make learning and fun collide for guests of all ages.
Kaleideum After Dark: Moon Rockin’
Saturday, July 12, 6:30-9:30 pm
It’s time to rock — literally and figuratively — at Moon Rockin’, an adults-only evening of music, hands-on science, and cosmic vibes.
Guests can head to the Rooftop Adventure for live music by TdK (The Downstairs Kids), delivering the best in pop, soul, and funk under the stars. In the Try It! Studio, adults can make and decorate their very own pet rock — because even grown-ups deserve a low-maintenance best friend.
Moon Rockin’ Bingo puts a twist on traditional bingo with moon facts, rock trivia, and rock & roll legends, while the Rock Sort Showdown challenges guests to match rocks and minerals to their correct category. Visitors can also check out the Moon to Mars feature exhibition with NASA-inspired, interactive exhibits about space exploration and planetary geology.
Vulcan Materials Company will be onsite with a fascinating table of real rock specimens and the end-use products that shape our world. Guests can order a signature cocktail served with a rock candy stirrer and receive a limited-edition tumbler embedded with actual rock samples (while supplies last). Dinner options include Fonz’s Firehouse Grill food truck or 20 percent off at the Hungry Palate Bar & Grill when you show them an event ticket.
Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door and include two drink tickets for beer, wine, or a non-alcoholic beverage.

This is the day for families to celebrate the wonders beneath their feet with interactive geology fun in the museum. Visitors can create their own pet rock in the Try It! Kids can take home free geology-themed coloring books and other fun giveaways while supplies last.
