Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time to get outside and try this fun maker activity.

Coffee filter parachutes help children explore how parachutes work and learn about larger concepts such as air resistance and weather conditions.

Gather the following materials:

  • Coffee filters
  • 2 Pipe cleaners
  • Hot glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • Markers if you want to decorate the parachute

Cut one of the pipe cleaners in half and make a small figure following the pictures below.

Loop the other pipe cleaner through the “arms” and hot glue or tape to the edges of the coffee filter

Experiment with your parachute by dropping it from different heights or compare what happens inside versus outside on a windy day.
