Hands-on learning awaits...

After you get all your school work completed, celebrate by making a “Paper Tube Kazoo” with #kaleideumathome!

Materials needed: paper tube (paper towel or toilet paper roll,) markers/crayons/stickers, wax paper, rubber band or tape, toothpick or skewer

Steps:

  1. Decorate the outside empty paper tube (paper towel roll or even toilet paper roll!) with markers, crayons, stickers, anything you have on hand.
  2. Ask a grownup to help you carefully poke three holes in the side of your tube, using a toothpick or a skewer (a skewer is a thin metal or wood stick used to hold pieces of food together when cooking.) Try to keep the holes evenly spaced apart, about the distance of your fingers.
  3. Get a small piece of wax paper, enough to cover the open end of your tube (you may want to cut the wax paper into a square and get rid of the excess, but you don’t need to.) Tightly cover one end of your tube with the wax paper and keep in place using a rubber band or by taping down the wax paper to the roll.
  4. Blow into the open end of the tube and use your fingers to cover the holes you made- what silly sounds can you make?
