Hands-on learning awaits...

Kaleideum is kicking off May with a full calendar of high-energy events, hands-on fun, and stellar new experiences for the whole family! From favorite annual celebrations like $5 Friday Night and MESStival to the grand opening of the exciting new Moon to Mars exhibition, Kaleideum is the place to be this spring.

$5 Friday Night — May 2
Start your engines and your weekend with $5 Friday Night on May 2 from 5–8 pm! Enjoy the sounds of the 3rd Street Soundwaves concert series outside and explore the “Science of Cycling” inside with special activities from Gears & Guitars and the National Cycling Center. Admission is just $5 per person, thanks to our friends at Compleat Kidz.

May the 4th Be With You — May 4
Feel the Force (and the fun!) on Sunday, May 4, from noon–3 pm! Meet Rey, The Mandalorian, and Bo Katan for epic photo ops on the Rooftop Adventure, craft your own cantina instrument in the Try-It! Studio, and spot strange alien creatures in Our Nature. Blast off into a live cosmic sky tour with a few intergalactic surprises along the way!
Heads up: May 4 is also your last chance to experience the “Toy Time” exhibit before it closes!

Kaleideum After Dark: Gear Up! — May 10
The action shifts into high gear with Kaleideum After Dark: Gear Up! on Saturday, May 10, 6:30–9:30 pm. Adults 21+ can pedal into a night of bikes, beats, and big energy, featuring a Guitar Hero World Tour showdown in the Digital Dome, live music on the Rooftop from High School Reunion, hands-on bike-based activities, and food and drink specials. Tickets are $20 online, $25 at the door — and include two drink vouchers.

MESStival — May 17
Get ready to dive into goo, gunk, and grit! MESStival returns Saturday, May 17, from 10 am–5 pm, bringing foam parties, oobleck pools, foot painting, and a whole day of messy, magical, memory-making fun. Activities take place both inside and outside the museum — so dress for a mess and bring a towel!

Moon to Mars Exhibition Opens — May 18
On Sunday, May 18, Kaleideum launches visitors on a new adventure with the opening of Moon to Mars in the Feature Exhibit Gallery! This traveling exhibition, developed by the Omaha Children’s Museum and designed with support from NASA’s Deep Space Exploration Systems at Johnson Space Center, invites guests to build rovers, plan a base camp, and envision the future of space exploration. It’s innovation, imagination, and discovery — no spacesuit required!

Every Week at Kaleideum:

  • Daily Digital Dome shows, including Mars: The Ultimate Voyage.
  • Weekly favorites like Songs and Stories, Innovation Station, and Animal Encounters.
  •  New hands-on activities each week in the Try-It! Studio!
