SciWorks visitors are invited to “dive into the wonders and mysteries of the sea” at “Ocean Commotion” Day on Saturday, June 28, from 1 to 5 pm. Visitors to SciWorks will learn about the diversity of ocean life and marine mammals.

During “Ocean Commotion,” interactive stations around the museum will feature activities, crafts and demonstrations for all ages that will illustrate the ways in which the ocean shapes the Earth, its climate and our lives. In addition, educators from the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh will present special programs inside their Geodome Immersion Theater.

All activities for “Ocean Commotion” Day are included with museum admission.

Phyllis Weatherly-Rosner, SciWorks Educator and coordinator of the event, says, “People are naturally  fascinated  by the sea, but few of them realize how essential  the ocean is to all of us and how much remains unknown about this frontier. I hope we will inspire some future marine researchers during our ‘Ocean Commotion.’”
